Those who frequent the Reddit website or app and contribute to communities might be happy to know that the social networking site will now show their appreciation for posts, which will be done through actual payments, granted that they earn gold awards from users who like their posts.
Gold Awards to Money
Reddit has implemented a major change in its awards system. From a range such as Silver, Gold, Platinum, Argentum, and more, the social site has simplified it to just Gold. But of course, it will still have variations that will depend on the value.
The new gold system has replaced the old one, but the system is still the same. To purchase an award, a user has to long press the upvote icon on mobile or hover over it on desktop. They could also just comment that they want to reward the post.
From what was previously five tiers of different elements, there will now be six kinds of gold awards. The smallest award would cost $1.99 which is equivalent to one gold, with the highest being $49.00, which is equivalent to 25 gold.
According to Reddit, contributors can continue to earn karma on content upvoted through the regular upvote button, but the new Contributor program will allow them to be awarded real money. Like every other monetization process, they will have to meet certain requirements first.
For one, users will have to go through a verification process to make sure that they are eligible for the program. This will help determine if the contributor is above 18 years old, or if they live in a country or location that supports the payment program.
In addition to those user requirements, the account will also need to have a "good standing" with Reddit, as well as make qualifying contributions to the platform over 12 months which has earned them at least 100 karma or ten gold.

When You Qualify as a Paid Contributor
After being qualified, you are still bound by Reddit policies along with certain limitations to what kind of content is considered in the program. For instance, ineligible contributions include posts in Not Safe For Work or quarantined communities.
Participants are also not allowed to post sexually explicit or suggestive content, as well as posts that depict or promote violence. Just like the general policy on the site, the promotion of drugs, alcohol, tobacco, firearms, firearm-related content, and gambling is not allowed.
Once you participate in the Contributor Program, you will be sorted into two categories which are "Contributor" and "Top Contributor." The former earns between 11 to 4,999 karma in the 12-month period, while the latter earns more than 5,000 karma in the same period.
Once you become any of the two categories, a public status will be added to your profile page and card depending on which tier you are in. It will be indicated below the number of comment karma and at the right side of the number of gold you've earned.
