Networking and Sense of Community

Within the fediverse, writers can easily find and connect with individuals like co-writers, editors, and publishers. The community is made up of people that share the same passion as you so you don't have to be scared to communicate and engage with others.

You have probably heard of some of the most popular fediverse services like Mastodon, Pleroma, Friendica, and more. These days blogging platforms like WordPress have started to introduce fediverse to its bloggers to give an opportunity for its writers to reach more people.

Creative Freedom

Writers within the fediverse have the freedom to be creative in promoting themselves or their work. Basically, they are free to control their online presence across platforms that they want to be seen. As a writer, you can set your own moderation rules. This is also good for writers who are very strict on their niche and target audience.

Since it is basically a free wall, writers have the power to choose how they will highlight their skills to the world. This is very useful for poets and other creative writers who seek validation from various people.

Wider Promotion

Since fediverse is connected through various platforms, writers have the opportunity to promote their posts to a wider audience by connecting with other instances and users. Instances are independent services that host the writer's accounts and content. Moreover, the fediverse prioritizes creating community talk. Creators and readers can both get into a discussion about a certain post that they feel like tackling.

Most importantly, what sets fediverse is its avoidance of algorithmic biases. Most of the platforms follow a certain algorithm which greatly affects the visibility of a post. In the fediverse, content are posted in chronological order which gives an equal chance for each content to be seen and appreciated by more people.

No Censorship

Some writers have had the experience of the headache of getting their publications censored on most mainstream social media platforms. The majority of the big social media platforms adhere to a strict and long list of limitations that sometimes can get questionable for some.

Fortunately, the fediverse nature of decentralization removes the fear of content censorship by the authors. They can freely express themselves without having to adhere to a long list of rules. Regardless, it is an individual responsibility to be accountable for everything they post online.

Experimentation

Writers can utilize the fediverse to experiment and explore other genres, themes, and writing styles. Since the community is wide, they can learn from other authors and publishers, and even by talking with their readers. There are a lot of niche communities where writers can put up a discussion so that they can immerse themselves while learning.
