The new GitHub Copilot Enterprise tier, which costs twice the business offer, is priced at $39 per person per month. GitHub CEO Thomas Dohmke shared that the company had consistently received requests from their enterprise customers a need for an AI assistant that is capable of internal knowledge within their organization.

The new tier is equipped with every Copilot feature from pulling requests in documentation to code review skills. Dohmke assured that the new AI assistant can write codes 55 percent faster and has the ability to keep the flow and idea from coding to deployment.

Organizations that have the license can choose repositories to fine-tune their Copilot on proprietary code. Companies can ask the chatbot about the existing code and suggest lines of code in development environments. As it progresses, the Copilot will be trained to summarize code changes.

Coding Assistants is the Trend

Coding assistant offers from various companies all promised to give additional insight into multiple languages and frameworks at any time. Despite the similarity, Dohmke claimed that Copilot is the most widely adopted AI coding system available.

"Copilot Enterprise will give rise to a new wave of digital transformation as we know it, and create a competitive advantage for every organization in our world that is dependent on software," the CEO added.

However, there are still concerns over dependency on coding assistance. Experts still advise that companies should not exclusively rely on software as these AI assistants can still make mistakes. GitHub, for its Copilot services, is encouraging developers to test, review, and check the code that was recommended before anything else.

Previous tiers such as Copilot Individual and Copilot Business, which are both exclusive to performing code completions, will also receive upgrades by December in Visual Studio and Visual Studio Code. They will also come with GPT-4 in-line chats and more. Regardless, it will still cost the same which is $10 per month for the individual tier and $19 per person per month for the business tier.
