TikTok’s New Feature Lets You Add Songs to Other Music Apps

TikTok has been very influential when it comes to new song hits that will top the charts. It has even been used to revive old songs that have been forgotten. With some titles being used more than others, we grew to like them and added the songs to our playlists in music apps. That will now be easier with the new feature.

TikTok's 'Add to Music App' Feature

The short-form video app has become one of our sources of new music nowadays, whether it's through viral trends or simple background music. TikTok recognizes this influence and is making it easier for us to listen to these songs in music apps.

The new feature comes as a button you can tap which is situated beside the track title at the bottom of the video, or right beside "Add to Favorites" when you search for the title. You can add them to music apps like Apple Music, Amazon Music, and Spotify.

The choices will appear the first time a user taps on the button and will be the default music app after. It can be changed anytime under Settings. Upon adding the song to the music app of choice, it will be saved to a default playlist.

For Spotify, it will immediately be added to the Liked Songs playlist, while Amazon will place the track on the TikTok Songs playlist or one of your choice. For Amazon Music, the feature can only function for Prime members and Amazon Music Unlimited customers.

TikTok Global Head of Music Business Development, Ole Obermann said TikTok is "already the world's most powerful platform for music discovery and promotion, which helps artists connect with our global community to drive engagement with their music."

With the feature, the process is taken a step further as it creates a direct link between discovery on TikTok and consumption on a music streaming service, Obermann added. This way, listeners won't have to exit the app to save the music they like on their preferred music apps.

Spotify VP and Global Head of Consumer Experience Sten Garmark said that they want to create less work to get to the audio listeners love. Currently, the feature is only rolling out to the US and the UK. The company plans to release it to other markets soon enough.

Other Platform Integration Features

TikTok has its own editing tools, but other content creators sometimes turn to professional editing software to create their videos. Knowing that fact, TikTok announced a new integration feature that allows creators to post directly from third-party editors.

The company has partnered with several platforms with their Content Posting API and introduced Direct Post. All they have to do is connect their TikTok account to the third-party platform and go through a vetting process to be granted access to the API.

The collaboration includes editors like Adobe Premiere Pro, Adobe Express, CapCut, DaVinci Resolve, SocialPilot, and Twitch. Content creators will receive a notification once the draft has been received, and they can continue to edit the video using TikTok's tools.
