ByteDance, TikTok's parent company, is reportedly building a TikTok social team that will be assigned to improve the app's messaging system.

TikTok Posts Job Listings for Messaging
In a report by Axios, TikTok was seen posting new job listings specifically on roles that focus on social networking and private messaging features. Based on the hiring posts, TikTok seemed to be looking for engineers and project managers that will act as the social interaction team of the company.
"Our team's mission is to facilitate meaningful user connections through TikTok's messaging experience, which is still in its infancy," the job intro for Engineering Lead stated.
The TikTok Social team will be responsible for the leading the exploration and implementation of the possible upgrades for TikTok's messaging feature. Although users are well-familiar with the apps messaging tool, it remains to be underutilized as most users prefer sharing content across other social media platforms.
TikTok Eyes Similar Functions to Other Social Media Apps
TikTok has been actively upgrading and expanding its functions by adding rolling out new features. The app was known for bringing e-commerce to the platform. In addition, reports showed that TikTok is also testing a music app and podcast to the platform.
On the other hand, it is no secret that some companies have been trying to adapt TikTok's vertical video format and algorithmic feed. For now, TikTok remains to be a popular entertainment app in the internet with over one billion users globally.
