'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' Prime Series Details

In 2005, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt both starred in the "Mr. and Mrs. Smith." Almost two decades after it was released in the theaters, Prime Video is taking it back as an eight-episode series.

The remake series will follow the characters of Donald Glover and Maya Erskine, two strangers who get recruited by a spy agency. Both characters were promised a good life in exchange for being in a non-negotiable arranged marriage.

Each episode will present a new mission and a new milestone in their relationship. They will learn to fight to stay together. The new "Mr. and Mrs. Smith" will also feature actors like John Turturro, Michael Coel, Paul Dano, Parker Posey, and Wagner Moura.

'Mr. and Mrs. Smith' Experiences Delay

The series was initially scheduled to hit the streaming platform in 2022 and was pushed back to November 2023. Amazon decided to further delay the series due to the WGA and SAG/AFTRA Hollywood strike.

The series was co-created by Glover together with Francesca Sloane. In addition, both of them are also the executive producers of the series with Sloane taking the role of showrunner. Glover and Sloane are currently under overall deals with Amazon.

While the series is only based on the names and spy-related aspects of the original film, it is still an opportunity for new audiences to see a different version of "Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Meanwhile, the 2005 movie is still available on Amazon Prime and YouTube.
