Sonos Headphones, Set-top Box, and More Will Release Next Year

Sonos is planning to release new sets of products next year, including over-ear headphones for $400 and $500.

The audio products manufacturer hinted last week new major items soon to be released as part of its entry "into a new multi-billion-dollar category."

Sonos CEO Patrick Spence earlier announced that Sonos will release four products for the second half of 2024.

Bloomberg reported that the products will include the long-rumored headphones, a TV streaming device, new subwoofers, a higher-end TV soundbar, and updates to other existing products.

The headphones are intended to rival similar products from Apple and Roku, possibly launching as early as April next year.

Sonos is expected to work with streaming services like Netflix for exclusive features in its TV set-top. Sonos earlier was seen looking for employees to work on a "Home Theater OS."

Leaks earlier sent to Bloomberg stated that the headphones will be able to synchronize music with other Sonos audio products.

Sonos has worked on its headphones since 2019. Spence expects "to reap the rewards of our R&D investments" with the product's release.

Sonos Headphones Features

Very early reports speculate that the headphones will provide active noise cancellation features that mark modern headphones today.

The product is expected to support voice assistants like Sonos Voice Control and a USB-C charging port.

Reports indicate that the headphones will have Wi-Fi integration features, enabling them to play music at a clear 24-bit/192kHz

Sonos could also use speaker transducers developed by Dutch firm Mayht, which Sonos acquired in 2022.

Sonos Strategy on Demand Downswing

The release of the new Sonos products coincides with the company's plans to recover from a demand slump this year.

Last quarter saw the audio manufacturer record a 5.5% revenue drop by year-over-year.

This led to Sonos making several layoffs across the company, primarily in its product development team.

It remains uncertain how Sonos meant to differentiate its soon-to-release products from its hugely successful competitors once out.
