In a recent blog post, the tech giant said it is "enhancing Bard's comprehension" of YouTube videos "to cater to your desire for more immersive interaction."

The latest update now allows the chatbot to analyze individual videos to give very specific information, like recipes or concise instructions from the footage.

Bard's improvements came after YouTube announced it is conducting experiments on generative AI on its platform.

Before the update, the AI extension can only redirect users to the requested YouTube video.

The tool tested was a conversational AI to answer queries about YouTube content. The experimental feature was able to summarize topics, appearing in the video's comment section.

How to Use Google Bard AI on YouTube

To register for Google's most popular AI, access Bard's webpage and sign in using a personal Google account or a Workspace email with administrator access.

At the top right corner, press sign in. Bard can open YouTube by simply typing the prompt. When accessed, users can activate Bard to watch the video for them and summarize it.

This saves minutes of watching the whole video riddled with ads and sponsorship announcements.

At the moment, Bard AI is a feature only available as an opt-in for Google Labs.

Bard recently became available for teen users as part of Google's product testing on the AI.

Effects of Bard AI to Content Creators

While users are sure to benefit from the chatbot, questions on the AI's effect on the YouTube content creators' performance are raised.

The Verge pointed out that the integration of Bard AI answers people's questions, poses the risk of privacy issues, paywall by-passing, and threatens the reach of educational videos on the platform.

It remains uncertain if the AI summary will count as a view on YouTube.

Google has been regularly working on Bard to integrate it across the tech giant's multitude of services, enabling the chatbot to pull data from partnered sites regardless of ownership.
