Epic Games Wants Nintendo Characters on Fortnite

Fortnite has become a popular game that is also known for its big crossover and collaborations. During its run, the game managed to feature several pop culture brands, icons, and IPs.

In an interview with Axios, Epic Games executive Saxs Persson shared that it was as hard as "making diamond" to woo Nintendo into partnering with Fortnite. "Nintendo has their strategy and we have our strategy, and we hope at some point" to use their characters as "our players would love it," he added.

If it pushed through and became a thing it would become Epic's biggest crossover in the making. However, for now, it seems that it is still far from happening.

Epic Games Continues Extravagant Crossovers

While the Nintendo partnership is far from happening, Persson confirmed that the character crossovers are not slowing down anytime soon. Just this week, Epic rolled out three games such as Lego Fortnite, Rocket Racing, and Fortnite Festival.

Persson also revealed that Epic is planning to bring back the OG season again for 2024. "It's just a matter of how and when, and how do we make it so it's not just the same," he said. Last month, Fortnite went back to the past for a limited time and managed to accumulate 44.7 million users in one day.

For now, Epic is already developing its plans to think about IPs that would work for future crossovers. The addition of age ratings to Fortnite has opened a new opportunity for the company.
