Apple Unveils Redesign TV App

The rebranded Apple TV app offers a wide variety of entertainment for its users such as Apple's original series, live sports, movies, and more. The new sidebar for the tvOS 17.2 update allows users to navigate through their access on Apple TV, Major League Soccer Season Pass, and other streaming services like Disney+, Paramount+, and Max.

"With so much available to watch, our aim is to ensure users always have their favorites at their fingertips," Apple's senior vice president of services, Eddy Cue shared as he emphasized the need for pushing content forefront.

The previous design of the app had major concerns about burying other streaming services and shows under the Apple TV Plus original programming, making it hard for viewers to pick shows outside Apple's offering.

New Apple TV App Boasts Diversity

Within the sidebar, users can go to Home, which is a unified collection of all the shows, movies, and sports. There is also a Channels & Apps section that allows users to browse on their other subscribed channels or connected apps. The collections portion will feature new shows and movies, top charts, trending, and for-you selections.

The sidebar will also have a profile selection which is a perfect tool for living room devices, making it easier to switch between users depending on who is watching at the moment.

In addition, users of the iTunes Store app on iPhone and iPad, and the iTunes Movies and iTunes TV Shows apps on Apple TV 4K and Apple TV HD will be redirected to the new TV app. All the existing purchases and collections will now be in one place.
