Netflix's Engagement Report 2023

Starting this year, the streaming giant will commit to releasing a comprehensive report that will cover what the subscribers have watched over six months. It will detail if the title was available globally, its premiere date, and the hours that were spent watching each title.

For its first report, Netflix revealed that the first season of "The Night Agent" was viewed for over 812 million hours globally. It was followed by the second season of "Ginny & Georgia" with over 665 million hours of views and "The Glory" with 662 million hours.

All of the shows that were released from January to June 2023 are included in the report. "We believe the viewing information in this report - combined with our weekly Top 10 and Most Popular lists - will give creators and our industry deeper insights into our audiences, and what resonates with them," Netflix wrote.

According to Netflix, more than 60% of the titles that were released from January to June 2023 managed to land on the weekly Top 10 lists. Many titles remain strong in viewership after returning for a sequel such as "You", "Alice in Borderland", and more.

As for the films, the list proved to be diverse as it included "AKA", "¡Que viva México!", and more. Moreover, the demand for non-English stories generated around 30% of viewership. On the other hand, there are still demands for older and licensed titles.

Netflix also reminded that success within the platform is not only determined by hours and views alone. "It's all about whether a movie or TV show thrilled its audience - and the size of that audience relative to the economics of the title," the streaming giant added.

Shows that were released from July to December 2023 will be added to the next engagement report next year.
