Netflix's 'Leave the World Behind' Logs 44 Million Views in a Week

Netflix's "Leave the World Behind" continues its lead for the second week after hitting 44.9 million views from December 11 to December 17.

'Leave the World Behind' Hot Debut

"Leave the World Behind" is an apocalyptic psychological thriller film that was written and directed by Sam Esmail. The film was based on the novel with the same title by Rumaan Alam and was released globally on Netflix last December 8. 

Aside from its intriguing plot, the film also starred popular actors such as Julia Roberts, Mahershala Ali, Ethan Hawke, Myha'la, and Kevin Bacon. The film was also previously released on AFI Fest in May and in selected theaters last November. 

Since its debut on Netflix, the film has been topping the streaming charts with 41.7 million views in its first week, and during its second week, it almost closed down to 45 million views.

On the other hand, "Chicken Run: Dawn of the Nugget" was recently released on December 15. The film quickly gained popularity with 11.9 million views. Meanwhile, "Leo" and "Family Switch" with 9.4 million views. 

Netflix series like "My Life With the Walter Boys", "The Crown", and "Obliterated" are also popular titles for December. Reality shows like "Squid Game: The Challenge" remain popular in the chart as well. 

Previously, Netflix announced an engagement report for its customers which will be done twice a year starting this 2023. The list revealed the most popular shows from January to June 2023.
