Google’s Advertising Jobs MIght Soon Be Taken Over by AI

Google has been making strides with its AI technology, especially with the recent release of Gemini. While that serves as good news for the company, it might not be so for employees. The recent brief for workers implies that they might be replaced by AI soon.

Google Opts for AI

In the company's briefing, Google said it plans to consolidate its staff, which could be done by "reassigning employees at its large customer sales unit who oversee relationships with major advertisers," or just laying them off completely.

"Consolidating staff" is just the professional phrase for "you might be out of a job soon," it seems. After all, Google is already developing more powerful AI models that can do the job a human can, and they won't have to pay for it.

One thing that could support this theory is the search engine giant's release of its AI tools for ads in May. As mentioned in Ars Technica, it is a "natural-language conversational experience within Google Ads, designed to jump-start campaign creation and simplify Search ads."

With the new technology for automation, Google will not have much use for a human workforce. Maybe they will keep a few to oversee operations and make sure it runs smoothly, but this kind of transition tends to result in major job cuts.

The new AI-powered ads wouldn't need a professional level of knowledge in the business since the AI will do most of the work. All it has to do is scan a website and it can immediately generate keywords, headlines, descriptions, and even images.

All an advertiser has to do is click on a few options, and decide which platform it will appear in such as Gmail, Google Search YouTube, and other Alphabet products and services. After that, all they have to do is wait for it to be approved.

Without having the human factor, Google wouldn't have to shoulder wage expenses and could even do business faster with machines. Some employees will have to wait for about a month to determine whether they will be among those who will be laid off.

AI Over Human Employees

Unfortunately for those who work in the tech sector, jobs are more at risk of being dissolved to be replaced by AI. With artificial intelligence, everything is set to be automated, and only a few employees are needed for moderation and overseeing operations.

AI continues to be damaging to several other industries as well. Graphic artists are wary of the likely loss of business as clients now prefer AI generation of images. It's cheaper and much faster to produce than that of human-made artwork.

Even those who work with numbers are not safe from the transition. Since AI is basically a machine, it will do well with numbers and can finish the job much faster without the factor of human error. It's not hard to see why companies would prefer this, but it's a hard reality for people around the world.
