Square Enix Embraces AI for Future Game Development, Marketing

Square Enix's president Takashi Kiryu unveiled the company's plan to embrace AI in its future game development and marketing strategies. The announcement came in Kiryu's annual New Year's letter, detailing all the plans of the company.

Square Enix Explores AI's Potential

There is no doubt that AI has cemented itself in the tech industry. As the industry catches up to the potential of AI, the gaming industry is slowly warming up to the idea as well. 

In his annual New Year's letter, Kiryu explained how extended reality, virtual reality, and augmented reality have become a capable way of bringing a unique and more immersive gaming experience. He then explained the implications of the rise of AI and how it could potentially play in the video game industry. 

"I believe that generative AI has the potential not only to reshape what we create but also to fundamentally change the processes by which we create, including programming," the president added. 

Square Enix to Move Aggressively Towards AI 

Kiryu emphasized that the company intends to be "aggressive in applying AI and other cutting-edge technologies." It would be most visible to the company's content development and publishing functions. 

The president also clarified that the goal is to enhance the company's productivity and achieve greater heights in its marketing efforts. The company also emphasized the possibility of business opportunities by adapting to the technological innovation brought by AI. 

"Never fearing change and always maintaining a challenger's mindset, we will work together as one to drive our businesses forward," Kiryu promised in his letter.
