5 Sword Fighting RPG Games You Should Try

There are so many RPG video games nowadays that you can play for months or even years without running out of titles. Like most gamers, each player has their own preference. If you feel like solely sword fighting games excite you, then here are five titles that are worth a try.

1. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

The Witcher franchise has many fans all over the world, and many started with the third game. You'll manage to understand the story without having to play the first two games, which is what makes it easier to slide into the game's universe.

The combat mechanics of the video game is easy enough. You'll have your choice of swords throughout the game, even adding runestones to enhance the sword's damage. You'll be carrying two, one steel and one silver. The former is for people and the latter is for monsters.

2. Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice

One of the best parts about the game is that you don't have to worry about finding the best weapon. You'll only have one primary weapon, which is the katana. The only other tool you'll have is your prosthetic arm which allows you to have other attachments.

In this game, you'll be a shinobi in search of your master who has been kidnapped. The fighting style is mainly about sword fighting, but you can also utilize the tools using your prosthetic. Just know that the game will not be as easy as most titles.

3. Assassin's Creed Odyssey

If you plan on getting into the Assassin's Creed franchise, Odyssey is the ideal first game as it places as the first in terms of chronological events. It follows the story of Kassandra (canon) or Alexios, as they hunt for the cult members who hunt their family and strive for power.

There are other weapon choices in the game such as staffs, maces, daggers, and swords. If your fighting style fits that of a sword, then you'll have many options throughout the game. They can also be improved using engravings and upgrades.

4. Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order

The action-adventure game, as the title suggests, is set within the "Star Wars" universe. In the timeline, it takes place five years after "Revenge of the Sith." You'll play the role of a Jedi Padawan named Cal Kestis.

Unlike the other games, you won't be fighting with an actual blade but a lightsaber, although it still counts as sword fighting. You'll find custom lightsaber parts throughout the game. If you're a fan of the franchise, you'll surely appreciate the graphics of the title.

5. Ghost of Tsushima

Unlike all the other video games, Ghost of Tsushima cannot be played on PC as it is still a PS4 and PS5 exclusive. You'll take on the role of a samurai named Jin Sakai, whose aim is to drive out the invading Mongols in Tsushima who killed the majority of the samurais.

In the game, you'll only have one katana, although you can upgrade it once you acquire the needed materials like steel, iron, supplies, and others. There are also sword kits that let you change the appearance of your sword. They can be found on the map or be purchased from merchants.
