'Ted' Series Attributes Viewership to 'NFL Wild Card' Game

Prior to its debut, Peacock exclusively streamed the "NFL Wild Card" game last Saturday. In a press release, NBCUniversal reported that the game reached 28 million viewers with an average peak of nearly 25 million viewers.

It seemed that after the game, many viewers stayed on the platform and discovered the newly released "Ted" series. Whether it was intentional or not for the part of Peacock, it worked the best for them.

The series also dropped the episodes all at once. Currently, all seven episodes of season one can be streamed already, however, NBC did not disclose the viewership number.

'Ted' Franchise Expansion

In 2012, the world saw the debut of a talking teddy bear called Ted. The movie was highly praised for its theme and dark jokes that caught the attention of its audience.

Even without the NFL game, the "Ted" franchise could stand alone on its own. The first movie earned $550 million at the box office while the sequel movie gained $215 million.

The seven-episode series is set in 1993 and will follow the life of Ted after his fame as a talking bear had passed. Showrunner Seth MacFarlane was joined by Paul Corrigan and Brad Walsh as co-executive producers.

Given the series' initial success, MacFarlane is not far from ruling out a second season. "I think it depends on the response. If there's an appetite for it, anything is possible," he added
