Samsung's Galaxy AI Features are Coming to Other Galaxy Devices but Will Only be Free Until End of 2025

Samsung made a spectacular launch for the Galaxy S24 lineup by forefronting Galaxy AI as its main feature. While the features will soon be available to other Galaxy devices, they might be free until the end of 2025 only.

The Galaxy S24 Ultra, S24+, and S24 are all equipped with new AI features, from live translations to generating edits on photos upon launch.

Samsung Galaxy AI in S24 Lineup is Free for a Limited Time

During the S24 series launch, Samsung introduced various AI-powered tools as part of the major upgrades from the company. This includes Live Translate, Live Conversation, Chat Assist, Generative Edit, and more.

However, it was spotted by Android Central that these Galaxy AI features will only be available for free until 2025.

"Galaxy AI features will be provided free of charge until the end of 2025 on supported Samsung Galaxy devices. Different terms may apply for AI features provided by third parties," the footnote read.

While there are no other details about the time limit, it is an indication that the main selling point of the S24 series is not coming free forever.

Samsung Galaxy AI on Other Galaxy Phones

On the other hand, the Galaxy AI will not be an exclusive feature for the S24 series. According to the head of Samsung's mobile division, TM Roh, the AI tools will expand to select Galaxy devices by mid-2024.

To be specific, Roh shared that the Galaxy AI will be available to 100 million Galaxy smartphones as the company aims to fasten the global expansion of mobile AI.

Previously, Apple introduced exclusive features to iPhone 14 users which were offered free for two years. The company had decided last year to extend the service for another year.

This is something that could happen once the time limit for the Galaxy AI expires. Regardless, there is a big chance that putting a paywall, especially on AI-powered tools, will be the next trend for the upcoming smartphones.
