Konami launched Silent Hill: The Short Message for free exclusively on PlayStation 5 during the January 2024 State of Play.

In addition, the studio also released the first trailer for the much-awaited Silent Hill 2 remake.

Silent Hill: The Short Message Comes Free on PS5

Silent Hill: The Short Message is a newly debuted game title from the franchise that features a young and contemporary main character. The game was initially announced in 2022 along with the plan to revive the popular Silent Hill series.

"We're releasing the whole game for free, so if you've never played a Silent Hill game before, we hope you'll take this chance to get a taste of what Silent Hill is all about," Konami producer, Motoi Okamoto shared.

The game was created in partnership with Hexadrive which helped the Konami team develop an experimental project. According to Okamoto, The Short Message served as the team's opportunity to try different things and expand their horror game expertise.

Moreover, the game was intended to be free since the beginning of the project due to its experimental nature and the Konami team wanted many people to play it first.

Silent Hill 2 Remake is Coming Soon

Silent Hill 2 was first released in 2001 for PS2 and became one of the most popular horror games of all time. The game was then transferred to other consoles like Xbox, PS3, and PC.

However, fans have been waiting long enough for a remake that would fit the latest gaming consoles like PS5. During the State of Play, Konami finally unveiled the first trailer for the Silent Hill 2 remake.

In under two minutes, Konami showcased the potential for the remake. Likewise, it stuck to its roots for being a horror and gore-filled game. However, the trailer only revealed that the game is "in development" for PS5.
