Select Samsung ‘Galaxy AI’ Features Might Arrive on Older Phone Models Too

The AI race continues for tech giants and Samsung is doing well for itself. It is set to include more AI features for its upcoming phones, particularly its latest flagship, the Galaxy S24 series. For people with older models, they might even have access to some of the AI features Samsung plans to release.

Samsung's Galaxy AI Features

It's pretty normal for tech companies to save their best features for their upcoming phones so that customers would be encouraged to purchase the newer models. However, there is evidence and speculation that Samsung could be straying from that practice.

Based on a model comparison and a couple of research-backed posts from Reddit, Galaxy AI features like the Circle to Search, Live Translate, Note Assist, and Photo Assist might arrive on older Galaxy smartphones, as reported by Gizmodo

This could serve as good news for those who prefer not to purchase Samsung's most expensive Galaxy models but still want to get the AI experience. Naturally, Google's Circle to Search feature is already on Pixel devices.

As for the other three, they will be part of the OneUI experience from Samsung, with Live Translate being available through the Dialer app, Note Assist being found in Samsung's Notes app, and Photo Assist through the device's Gallery app.

The Galaxy AI features that did not make the cut are the Generative Writing Assistance for the Samsung Keyboard, Transcript Assist for Samsung's Voice Recorder, and the Instant Slow Motion feature for the Camera app.

Furthermore, the company itself already stated that select Galaxy AI features will be coming to certain devices, although only a few models were mentioned during Samsnung's Unpacked event such as the Galaxy Z Fold 5, Z Flip 5, and the Galaxy Tab S9.

Samsung Galaxy S24

Even without the new AI features, the latest Galaxy lineup is already impressive enough as it is. The Galaxy S24 will have a 6.2-inch screen and a Full HD+ resolution. The battery capacity is at 4,000mAh and has a memory of 8 GB.

As for the Galaxy S24+, it will have a bigger screen at 6.7 inches and will feature a QHD+ resolution. It also has a higher battery capacity at 4,900mAh. The memory is increased to 12 GB and it is equipped with Ultra Wide Band connectivity.

With its latest Vapor Chamber feature, the phone will perform better in terms of heat dissipation to keep your apps and games running optimally through an integrated liquid-type thermal interface material.

The flagship will provide users access to Chat Assist, which helps in setting the tone for messages. Just type what you want to say, and the AI assist feature will offer suggestions that can be more fitting for the scenario such as a more polite tone, or in social media format.

The Galaxy S24+ comes with two storage options at 256GB and 512GB, while the Galaxy S24 offers the 128GB option. To save on the cost of upgrading, you can trade in your old phone to gain credit for the purchase of the new Galaxy S24 or S24+.
