This year's Valentine's Day doodle is an interactive design that features a scientific twist. These days taking personality quizzes and swiping through a dating app are both trending among the younger generation. 

On this interactive quiz, users are redirected to either take a quiz or select an element. Users who opt to take the quiz will answer a couple of questions that reflect their personality. After seeing the results, users will enter a dating app-themed portion wherein they can pair themselves with other elements.

In 2022, Google took inspiration from how love can take us by surprise. The design team made use of the twists and turns and ups and downs in a relationship. 

The 2022 doodle featured two smitten hamsters who are separated by a complicated path. The challenge for the users is to clear the path by re-arranging some of the pieces and building a pathway for the hamsters at the center, which is in the shape of a heart.

For 2019, Google had a different vision which focused on showing the universal and undeniable power of love. As written in every love-related piece, "Love comes in all shapes and sizes." 

As an inspiration, the design team took it to another level by interpreting the love that knows no species. The interactive doodle featured different types of love from worms, bugs, and spiders. Despite its short story, it is the perfect interpretation that love is indeed universal and is not limited to humans only.

Ever heard of "opposites attract?" In 2016, artist Kevin Laughlin made three animated unlikely couples. In a sketch shared by Google, it was shown unexpected love between a balloon and a cactus, a soda and a tooth, rain and sun, and more. 

There is more love and opportunities to learn if we surround ourselves with people who are different from us. It allows us to grow together with them.

In 2015, technology was booming more than ever at the time. Google's design team had the idea of portraying how love is shown despite the presence of technology. 

Five versions of the animated doodle were made as proof that love and technology can co-exist. For instance, the letter Os in Google are shown sending love letters through texts, co-working together, or trying to locate each other to meet.
