Adobe Unveils AI Tool to Summarize, Search for PDFs

Adobe has launched its AI chatbot to its Reader and Acrobat applications for searching and summarizing PDFs.

The graphic software developer, on Tuesday, touted its AI Assistant to be capable of generating summaries and insights for long documents, emails, reports, and presentations.

It can also answer questions and format information for all the 3 trillion PDFs available, pushing to "completely transform the digital document experience."

Adobe leverages its in-house Acrobat Liquid for the "conversational engine" equipped with the chatbot.

The feature is currently available in beta for Acrobat Individual, Pro, and Team subscribers. Acrobat Pro trialists can also experience the feature within the free trial period.

Adobe Leverage AI for New Features Across Creative Cloud Suite

Since the AI boom, Adobe has been launching new AI-powered features for its software products, being among the first to jump into the trend.

Most notable are the generative AI tools for Photoshop and Premiere, advancing its image and video fill functions.

So far, Adobe has been promoting the technology as a way to boost productivity and optimize workflow, citing benefits to students, sales teams, and professionals.

Adobe's revenue has since seen growth for its Creative Cloud Suite that utilizes AI, according to its latest fiscal report for 2023.

Generative AI Advances in 2024

The announcement from Adobe follows the newest innovations in generative AI and text-to-media models.

Just last week, OpenAI launched its newest text-to-video Sora, capable of generating high-quality, near-realistic 60 clips.

The new technology has been sweeping across the AI world over the past few days as people express concerns about the potential dangers of the new technology, while some push for more advancements to make it more similar to real life.

There is no indication that Adobe will be adopting similar software features yet, but it has announced to advance its AI capabilities as part of its generative AI roadmap.
