Square Enix Producer Hints Bravely Default Announcement

Square Enix producer Tomoya Asano teased fans about the possible announcement of the Bravely Default JRPG series later this year.

Square Enix Teases Bravely Default Comeback

Due to the success of Bravely Default, Square Enix formed Team Asano. Since then, the team has been busy producing other RPGs for the company such as Octopath Traveler and Triangle Strategy.

In 2021, the studio released Bravely Default 2 which featured a different universe from the first game. As a celebration of the game's third anniversary, Asano shared a small promise that the team will soon share an update on the Bravely JRPG series.

"We are sure that we will be able to tell you something about the Bravely series this year, so please keep your eyes peeled!" Asano stated in a rough translation of the post.

Square Enix Preps for Bravely Default Upgrade

Bravely Default quickly received praise for its classic turn-based combat system that felt nostalgic for many gamers. The story and the art style of the game also brought back old-school memories.

Despite the lack of details for what is yet to come, fans of the game are speculating that Team Asano might be preparing a remastered port for the first Bravely Default game. Previously, Asano shared his desire to bring the original game to Nintendo Switch.

Fans expressed their excitement citing that it could align with the release of the next-generation Switch or its rumored successor. There are also theories that the announcement could be about the Bravely Default 3.
