OpenAI Mocks Elon Musk for 'Incoherent,' 'Frivolous' Lawsuit

OpenAI is now dismissing claims from Elon Musk's lawsuit against the ChatGPT maker as "incoherent" and "frivolous," Bloomberg reported.

In a court filing on Monday, the AI firm refuted the billionaire's huge claim on the company's success over six years as nothing more than "convoluted - often incoherent - factual premises."

According to OpenAI, Musk's lawsuit was only meant to "advance his own commercial interests," claiming there was never an agreement with Musk in the first place.

Musk, who was a co-founder of OpenAI in 2015, filed the lawsuit against the AI firm for supposedly breaching its nonprofit purpose as part of its founding agreement.

The filing came a week after the AI startup revealed that Musk suggested to OpenAI executives to sell the company to his company Tesla.

Elon Musk Plans to Acquire OpenAI for Tesla

Musk's Tesla has been financially struggling since 2018 as it attempts to finish its Model 3 electric vehicle.

The takeover of the growing AI company was viewed by Musk as a saving grace to reduce operational costs in the hope of a longer survival in the EV industry.

According to Business Insider, Tesla has been under "production hell" throughout 2018 amid rising expenses and delayed schedules.

It did not help that the Model 3 EVs also got stuck in delivery due to poor logistics planning.

In OpenAI's blog, Musk supposedly suggested OpenAI to raise $1 billion and merge with Tesla, effectively naming the billionaire as the CEO.

OpenAI's History of Downplaying Lawsuit Claims

It is also worth noting that Musk's lawsuit was not the only one OpenAI has refuted through a similar method.

OpenAI has been reported several times as downplaying and even dismissing claims against the company to be made up or irrelevant.

It can be remembered that the AI startup accused The New York Times of "hacking" ChatGPT to conjure the evidence to prove that OpenAI used its licensed content to train its chatbot.

The company has also been noted for claiming that the plaintiff used unauthorized methods for their case against OpenAI for the other copyright lawsuits filed against the company.
