Amazon Prepares for 'Big Spring Sale' on March 20, Rolls Out Early Discounts

Amazon is revving up to launch its first-ever "Big Spring Sale" from March 20 to 25, as the e-commerce giant rolls out tech discounts, exclusive deals, and "seasonally relevant items."

In a press statement on Thursday, Amazon said it will release big discounts of up to 50% to select beauty products and sports equipment as soon as next week.

Select home products, spring apparel, and electronics will also receive discounts of up to 40% for US customers, Prime subscribers or not.

New deals are expected to drop every day through the six-day event.

Amazon Rolls Out Bigger Discounts to Compete with Cheaper E-Commerce Rivals

It is worth noting that free shipping, exclusive savings, and fast delivery are locked behind the $14.99 per month/$139 per year Prime membership fee.

The "Big Spring Sale" follows the recent Amazon trend of launching huge shopping events ahead of the holiday season to bring in customers before its competitors do.

Aside from its big shopping week sprees, Amazon has already started one-off events like the "Prime Big Deal Days" and "Pet Day" sales in the past years.

Higher Inflation Expected Ahead of Holiday Season

As its competitors like Shein and Temu roll out cheaper prices for the same products, Amazon has been ramping up sales and big discounts to attract customers trying to curb expenses amid another surge in inflation.

While not as high as it was in 2021 and 2022, the Federal government has recorded a slight upward trend in consumer prices due to increasing charges for electricity, oil, and services.

This means Amazon shopping would less be prioritized by many people.

It does not help that product sold through the e-commerce giant is noticeably higher than other platforms.
