LinkedIn Works on Bringing In-App Games

The company is reportedly planning to incorporate puzzle-like games like Wordle, which has become a huge success with millions of players. App researcher Nima Owji found that LinkedIn is experimenting with games that will involve players' scores being organized by workplaces, allowing companies to rank them by scores.

LinkedIn also confirmed the news but stated that the launch date is not yet finalized.

"We're playing with adding puzzle-based games within the LinkedIn experience to unlock a bit of fun, deepen relationships, and hopefully spark the opportunity for conversations," a company spokesperson shared.

Despite being affiliated with Microsoft, a company known for productivity and gaming, LinkedIn declined to comment on how the company is involved in its gaming project.

Non-Gaming Platforms Adapt Games to Boost Traffic

Games are known to be drivers of revenues and engagements for both mobile and PC. Casual games like puzzles are quickly noticeable among mobile users.

For instance, Wordle was acquired by The New York Times after it went viral. The publication has then confirmed that the game has been continuously played by millions of people. The publication is also known for housing other online puzzles and games that boost their traffic.

Over the years, LinkedIn has been continuously providing new tools that would help its users to increase their presence on the platform.

Although some users are excited with the idea of gaming on LinkedIn, some users also voiced their concerns about the increasing "distractions" in the app, making it less professional than how it should be.
