Phones are quite handy for a lot of things, which is why everyone has them now. However, they are also very fragile, and a simple accident like dropping them could break the device permanently. This can be avoidable by using a phone case, but how do you know which one is right for your phone?

Determine the Materials Used

Leather can sometimes be too thick that it will contribute to your phone's temperature increase. It may not be as durable as well since they are susceptible to scratches and cracking. As for metal, it will be the hardest material but it could also scratch the edges of the phone.

All have advantages and disadvantages, so you will have to choose which one suits you best. For example, you should steer clear of metal cases if you intend to use wireless chargers. You may also opt for silicone or TPU cases if you're clumsy and drop your phone often.

Make Sure It's Functional

No matter how good the material or the design is, the case will practically be useless if you can't use your phone properly because of it. Check for the button and port access points to make sure that the case has the right holes or if the plugs would be able to fit.

If you're using wireless chargers, ask the store or seller or check the description if it's compatible with the function. You may also look for additional features that can come as a selling point. For example, some have slots for cards like IDs and credit cards.

If you use your phone for streaming movies and shows, you might want to look into cases that are already built with kickstands. If you have trouble holding your phone because of its weight or size, you might find that a grip would be better than a kickstand or nothing at all.

Check the Brand

Some brands create official cases for their units, and more often than not, they are better than what third-party stores can offer. Sometimes, it comes with unique features like magnetic covers that automatically lock the phone when you close it.

The companies behind the device and the phone case will also put more resources into making sure that it's the best fit. That means that you can feel more confident that it will not damage your phone or diminish its performance in any way. When in doubt, check for reviews online.
