Smart TVs allow you to mirror content from your phone, which can be used for many things. You can mirror your screen for presentations, showing pictures and videos, and even streaming video games live. This way, you can see apps through a TV screen if there are no versions of it yet compatible with a television's OS.

Voice Control Assistant

Depending on the model, some smart TVs come with voice control or virtual assistants. This eliminates the need for a remote control entirely, or it can assist you with typing long sentences. As you know, typing using a remote control's arrows can be tiresome. With the voice-to-text function of a virtual assistant, you can do this effortlessly.

Remote Control App

TVs usually only come with one remote control per unit, so when you lose it, there's not much you can do except buy a new compatible one. If you own a smart TV, there are several apps you can download on your smartphone so you can use it to navigate through your TV. Some brands like Samsung even have native features that allow easy access like SmartThings.

Gaming Mode

Some models come with a "Game Mode" option to appeal to gamers who are looking to buy TVs for their consoles. It allows users to optimize their picture settings for faster response times and to reduce input lag. While streaming videos doesn't require this, it is important for video games where fast reaction times can determine victory or defeat.

User Profiles

Some models and brands like Google TVs come with the option to create user profiles. This can be useful for living room TVs that several members of the family have access to. With separate profiles, each user can customize their viewing experience, as well as choose the apps they want to access immediately through the menu.

Input Devices

Since smart TVs have their own apps and operating systems, people can use them as computers to some extent. It might be hard to use the browser with just a remote, but anyone can just as easily connect certain accessories like keyboards and mice to use it more efficiently. Since smart TVs often have Bluetooth connectivity, one can do so wirelessly.

Filmmaker Mode

This feature only comes in select TVs, but if a user has it, it could make the viewing experience in movies better. It disables post-processing features like motion smoothing, white balance, sharpening, and noise reduction. That means that the TV will provide a more cinematic experience just as the director intended.

Ambient Mode

Some models are already stocked with images and videos that can be displayed when the TV is not in use. Ambient mode lets the TV function as a digital picture frame which can change the mood of the room. Even without included scenes, anyone can easily search YouTube for ambient videos like fireplaces or nature scenes that can be played for hours on end.
