Paramount+ Renews 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds', 'Lower Decks'

Paramount+ announced that "Star Trek: Strange New Worlds" is renewed for its fourth season, while "Star Trek: Lower Decks" will come back for its fifth and final season.

The CBS Studios-produced series will follow the recent conclusion of "Star Trek: Discovery" in its fifth and final season.

Paramount+ Extends 'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' Amid Success

"Strange New Worlds" is favored by critics as seen by its 98% rating on Rotten Tomatoes. The series debuted on the platform in May 2022. Currently, Paramount is still working on the third season of the show.

Although season 3 of "Strange New Worlds" is slated to launch later in 2025, Paramount+ already committed to the series' success by renewing the show until its fourth season.

"'Star Trek: Strange New Worlds' has found the perfect blend of action, adventure, and humor, and we're elated to announce another season ahead of our season three premiere," said Jeff Grossman, Paramount+ programming EVP. The company also expressed its gratitude to the production, casts, and producers for continuing the "Star Trek" franchise.

Paramount+ Preps for Season Finale of 'Star Trek: Lower Decks'

On the other hand, "Lower Decks" will soon reach its end as the streaming company announced that the renewal for its fifth and final season. The series debuted back in August 2020 and is slated to be completed later this fall.

"Similarly, 'Star Trek: Lower Decks' has brought the laughs with an ample amount of heart to the franchise across its four seasons. We can't wait for audiences to see what is in store for the crew of the U.S.S. Cerritos in this final season," Grossman added.

The final season of "Lower Decks" will follow the usual 10-episode format and will end with a total of 50 episodes for the series.

Paramount+ also recently wrapped up production for the movie "Star Trek: Section 31" which features Oscar-winner Michelle Yeoh, while the new original series "Star Trek: Starfleet Academy" will begin its production later this year.
