Adobe Introduced Upcoming AI Features for Premiere Pro

Adobe confirmed that several AI features will be debuting this year on its video editing tool, Premiere Pro. Among the upcoming features are Generative Extend, Object Addition, and Object Removal.

The Generative Extend feature will allow editors to add frames and make longer clips with just click-and-drag motion. Silent portions can also get extended to create a "room tone" to smoothen audio edits.

Meanwhile, the Object Addition will bring AI-generated elements to the footage even after filming has wrapped. Editors can change the landscape of a shot or swap out props using a simple text prompt. For instance, editors can swap the city view for a different location or convert an unnecessary prop into a new one.

As for the Object Removal, it will help clean up the unwanted objects from the clips, allowing a faster VFX work for editing videos. Even a logo or a license plate can also be easily removed when avoiding branding concerns.

Adobe Opens Door For Collaboration With AI Companies

Adobe is reportedly developing a way that will soon allow its customers to use third-party tools from OpenAI. Other AI startup companies such as Pika Lbas and Runway are also being considered as partners for Premiere Pro.

According to Deepa Subramaniam, Adobe's VP of product marketing for creative professional apps, the company has yet to finalize the revenue split between the company and outside developers.

However, Subramaniam explained that Adobe users will be notified if the system detects that they are not using the company's "commercially safe" AI models. In addition, all Premiere Pro-created videos will indicate which AI technology has been used.

"We're really excited to do is explore a world where you can have more choice beyond that through third-party models," he added.
