In a press release, Apple TV+ shared that the series will provide an in-depth story about the Con Queen who impersonated powerful women from Hollywood. The con artist lured her victims to Indonesia by promising an outstanding career opportunity.

The scam got big which drew the attention of a veteran investigative journalist from The Hollywood Reporter, Scott Johnson. He was joined by a private investigator, Nicole Kotsianas, and together they discovered the truth beyond the Con Queen.

According to the investigation, the imposter, Hargobind Pubjabi Tahilramani, successfully conducted his con for several years. He would lure gig workers who are in the entertainment industry and extract money from them in exchange for a work opportunity.

The docuseries is produced by Emmy winner Chris Smith and Library Films, the team behind the "Tiger King." They were also known for their works on "100 Foot Wave," "Fyre," "Bad Vegan," "Operation Varsity Blues," and more.

In 2020, the Con Queen was arrested in Manchester, England. He was responsible for impersonating prominent Hollywood figures like Amy Pascal, Kathleen Kennedy, and Wendi Murdoch. He was also guilty of scamming workers worth hundreds of thousands of dollars.

The victims were all instructed to pay cash for the logical services like driving and fixing, with a promise of reimbursement. Once they were in Indonesia for the supposed work, the Con Queen would vanish and the projects never materialized.
