Many viewers were captivated by the show, citing the screenplay and the actors' performance on the show. The show was also applauded for its uncomfortable yet realistic depiction of stalking and assault.

Real-Life 'Baby Reindeer' Stalker Considers Legal Action Against Gadd

"Baby Reindeer" is based on a true story from Gadd. Despite attracting the attention of King and many viewers, the series might face legal action.

The alleged real-life Martha from the show shared that she is considering filing for defamation against Gadd's project. The unnamed woman, who claimed to be the inspiration for Martha, was portrayed to have sent Gadd thousands of emails, tweets, letters, and hours of voicemails.

The Hollywood Reporter shared that the woman is claiming to be the victim by Gadd. "He's using 'Baby Reindeer' to stalk me now," she said.

Gadd previously shared that he made certain changes to the show to protect the characters and to follow legal and artistic reasons. He also asked his fans to stop deducing the real-life basis for the show's characters.

"Please don't speculate on who any of the real-life people could be. That's not the point of our show," he added.
