Sony has just announced some new accessories for its latest Xperia Z2 flagship smartphone, enabling wireless charging for the device.
The Sony Xperia Z2 is one of the most powerful smartphones currently available on the market and despite a rocky launch, the waterproof handset has stirred lots of interest due to its high-end specs and features.
Sony is now making its new flagship smartphone even more attractive by launching new Xperia Z2 accessories that add wireless charging to the list of benefits. These new accessories consist of a new wireless charging cover for the Xperia Z2, as well as a new wireless charging plate. Both gadgets use QI charging technology, which means they could work with other QI-compatible devices as well.
"Got an Xperia Z2? Hate wires? Don't worry, we've got you covered. We're launching two beautifully designed products, Wireless Charging Cover WCR12 and Wireless Charging Plate WCH10 that allow you to charge your Xperia Z2 wirelessly, with minimal hassle," Sony touts in a new company blog post on Wednesday, May 28.
"Designed by some of our brightest and best, these two wireless products use the latest inductive 'Qi' (pronounced 'chee') technology, allowing power to transfer from a transmission pad to a compatible receiver using electromagnetic induction."
The Wireless Charging Cover WCR12 is a flip-style case that will not only enable wireless charging, but will also protect your device and double as a stand for using the smartphone in landscape mode.
The new Sony Wireless Charging Plate WCH10, meanwhile, uses QI technology and produces 5W of power, seamlessly charging your Xperia Z2 with the new Wireless Charging Cover WCR12.
While the Sony Xperia Z2 has yet to become more widely available, the smartphone is already shaping up to be a great hit. Wireless charging accessories will likely make it even more attractive, but Sony has yet to announce any pricing details or an exact launch date for these new accessories.
