Verizon pre-paid customers to get 4G LTE on ALLSET plan on July 17

Verizon Wireless prepaid customers may be getting 4G LTE access later this month, on July 17, according to a new report.

While Verizon allows its customers to choose pre-paid options, the carrier currently reserves its high-speed 4G LTE data to post-paid subscribers. In other words, pre-paid Verizon users have so far been limited to slower 3G speeds, but that may very well change soon.

"According to sources of ours, Verizon prepaid is finally getting access to the carrier's massive 4G LTE network come July 17," Droid-Life reports. "As those of you in the prepaid game know, Verizon has lagged behind others in terms of prepaid data speeds, leaving their customers on 3G-only, which is painful on Big Red's incredibly slow CDMA network. That is about to change, but you now have to decide if their plan is worth considering."

According to the publication, Verizon will be adding this new LTE coverage to the ALLSET pre-paid plan come July 17. The ALLSET plan includes unlimited talk and text, as well as 500MB of data. That data is currently 3G, but it could turn into 4G if Droid-Life's information turns out to be accurate.

The ALLSET pre-paid plan costs $45 per month, but Verizon also allows users to get more data past that 500MB via BRIDGE DATA. For instance, users can add another 500MB for an extra $5, 1GB for $10, or 3GB for an extra $20. It's worth pointing out that these prices refer to 3G data, and it remains unclear whether the fees will stay the same once 4G LTE data comes into play.

The new 4G LTE options should be available to existing subscribers via customer service, as well as Verizon's website. The addition of this new LTE connectivity for pre-paid customers could also see some new 4G-enabled devices to get things going.

Keep in mind, however, that none of this information is confirmed at this point, so it all remains in the rumor state for now. If Verizon does indeed plan to add 4G LTE to its ALLSET pre-paid plan on July 17, we should hear more about it soon enough. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we have official confirmation, but take everything with a grain of salt in the meantime.
