Verizon Nexus 6 ‘coming soon,’ sign-up option now available on carrier’s website

Verizon Wireless is finally getting ready to add the Google Nexus 6 to its portfolio, as the carrier's website lists the smartphone as coming soon.

The Motorola-made Nexus 6 made its debut back in October 2014 and drew lots of interest ever since, as it packs top-notch specs and features all around. All four major carriers said they would offer the handset, but one of them has been dragging its feet for months.

While AT&T, Sprint, and T-Mobile have launched the Nexus 5 a while back, Verizon Wireless has still not started offering the smartphone. Event to this date it remains unclear just when exactly the Nexus 6 would finally hit Verizon, but at least now the carrier lists the smartphone as coming soon on its website, complete with a sign-up option to receive more information closer to launch.

As a reminder, the Nexus 6 boasts a massive 5.96-inch QHD display with a resolution of 2560 x 1440, arriving as the first phablet in the Nexus family. Under the hood, the device packs a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 805 processor paired with 3GB of RAM, and internal storage capacity comes in the form of 32GB and 64GB options. Other specs of the Motorola Nexus 6 include a 13-megapixel rear camera, a 2-megapixel front shooter, and a 3,220 mAh battery. On the software side, the handset served as a launch vehicle for Android 5.0 Lollipop, so it obviously runs the latest OS out of the box.

The Nexus 6 has been quite elusive since its launch, however, as it barely stayed in stock. Carriers, retailers, and even Motorola and Google had trouble keeping up with demand, and it remains to be seen whether Verizon will be able to stock enough units as to meet demand.

Customers who purchased an unlocked Nexus 6 have been able to activate it on Verizon so far, but many are still waiting for the carrier to offer the smartphone directly. The Nexus 6 sports quite a hefty price tag of $649.99 unsubsidized, and a contract option would surely make it more appealing to Verizon customers.

As previously mentioned, Verizon has not offered any specific details regarding its Nexus 6 launch just yet, but should provide more information shortly. We'll keep you up to date as soon as we learn more.
