Google Nexus 6 now officially available from Sprint for $299 on contract

Sprint has officially started selling the Google Nexus 6 smartphone just as planned, offering the handset for $299.99 on-contract as of Friday, Nov. 14.

The Nexus 6 Google made in collaboration with Motorola is currently considered one of the hottest devices of this year, and a wider launch was highly anticipated. The handset went up for pre-order a while ago on Google Play, but sold out in less than 24 hours. Motorola also started offering the device on its website, but the Nexus 6 similarly went out of stock quickly after that. Google promised to replenish Nexus 6 stock each Wednesday on Google Play, but whatever units it added so far vanished in no time.

The Nexus 6 comes with top-notch specs and features all around, and marks the first time Google ventures into phablet territory with a Nexus device. At the same time, all of those high-end specs and features have also commended a price to match, and the Nexus 6 is considerably more expensive compared to its predecessors. The handset costs $649 for the 32GB model and $699 for the 64GB variant on Google Play.

With such limited availability, as well as the hefty price tag of the device, many interested customers were waiting for carrier versions to launch so they could get the Nexus 6 subsidized. AT&T has already started taking pre-orders for the device a couple of days ago, and now Sprint is selling the Nexus 6 as well.

It's worth pointing out that Sprint is only carrying the 32GB Midnight Blue version of the Nexus 6, offering the device for $696 outright or $299.99 with a two-year service agreement. The device is also available with Sprint Easy Pay, for $0 down and $29 per month. It remains unclear just why Sprint chose to sell the Nexus 6 for $50 more than Google Play, but it's not a huge surprise either to see a carrier charge more for a device.

The Sprint Nexus 6 currently appears to be in stock on the carrier's website, but it remains to be seen just how long it will last until it goes out of stock.

As for the other two major U.S. carriers, T-Mobile has postponed the Nexus 6 launch from Nov. 12 to Nov. 19, while Verizon Wireless has yet to offer any details in this regards.
