Anonymous competes with Facebook

The hackers' group Anonymous is backing up a new social network, Minds.com. The newly launched social network hopes to attract users from Facebook and the other well established social media networks by promoting a better commitment to security, transparency, and privacy.

While Facebook recently introduced a new privacy policy that forces its users to agree on having their online activity to be traced everywhere on the net, Anonymous Minds.com keeps users' privacy at high regards.

The newly launched social network is promising more transparency, privacy, and security than its competitors. While other social networks claim they protect privacy and ensure security, they actually do not use encryption techniques. Minds.com shields data by encrypting all users' messages.

At first look, Minds.com seems to be similar to any other social network. They feature the same basic options. Minds' users can send updates to their followers, who on their turn can share, promote, or just comment the posts that they read. However, what makes Minds.com to stand up among its competitors is their 'better' privacy policy. The social network backed by Anonymous is not trying to make money from gathering users' data. All the messages are encrypted, so they cannot be read by governments or advertisers.

Another feature that differentiates Minds.com from other social networks is its rewards policy. Users are rewarded with points for interacting with posts, uploading, commenting, and voting. The network ensures this way that the posts of active members are more promoted, since the reward points can be exchanged for views.

Minds.com rewards mechanism is more straightforward than the Facebook algorithm that works on a complicated mix of clicks, engagement, and time spent on certain posts. On Minds.com content will be promoted by using a transparent algorithm.

The social network is based on a free and open-source platform and aims to become a global social network of social networks. Every member can contribute to Minds.com upkeep and design. This way, users maintain control of the social media network in every sense.

Since Minds.com works on an open-source code platform, the social network is kept more accountable, as any programmer can check the code to ensure it's secure and no one can access the private data of members.

Every application on the social network platform is specifically designed to protect the digital rights of users while helping them to go viral by rewarding them with 'reach' for using the social network. For every 'remind', comment, mobile vote, swipe and upload, members of Minds.com earn points which can be exchanged for views on your choice of posts.

Anonymous initiated a call to designers, hackers, programmers, and creators to unite worldwide in order to collaborate on the code of Minds.com. The site, which was launched on Monday, June 15, is supporting both mobile and desktop applications. Even before the official launch, Minds.com was gaining traction and had gained 60 million visits.
