For Many Gamers PlayStation Network Down Once Again

Big and small players alike are enjoying multiplayer games in this golden age of gaming. For them, it is more fun to compete online against friends and not so friendly opponents across the world. It is important to stay connected and interact.

But what is happening when one of the major gaming networks, Sony’s PlayStation Network goes down? This is going to make angry many gaming enthusiasts all over the world. Well, it seems it’s happening again. Even if Sony claims there PlayStation is back up and running, many gamers still report that they cannot connect.

According to a high number of gamer complains on all social media networks, things are not pinky with Sony. Another outage for PSN is making users angry. Sony’s online gaming infrastructure is affected by a massive outage. Gamers are reporting having troubles connecting the online multiplayer games like the popular Destiny, or connecting to the PlayStation Store.

Sony’s statement on this is trying to explain that the PSN is undergoing some maintenance. Even if this might be true, usually such maintenance schedule is planned and announced in advance, which is not the case now. In an update of its PSN status page, Sony has confirmed the outage, warning its users that they may experience issues related to launching social features, applications, and games.

This is only the latest from a series of downtimes for PlayStation Network over the last several weeks. It has gone offline three times even over the July 4 weekend. Just one week later a forth PlayStation Network major outage is happening this month. Many angry gamers are asking repeatedly for an explanation from Sony about all these downtimes, but the company declined to return their requests.

In the past, Sony used to acknowledge the cause of major outages. For example, most recently, the Christmastime attack took PlayStation Network down for an entire week. At the time, Sony admitted that its PSN went offline as the result of a hackers’ attack using a distribute denial-of-service assault. This resulted in overwhelming with junk data all the PSN servers.

As for the current outage, we have no reason to assume that is happening again and everyone would like to know the cause for all these inconvenience and frustration created by this situation. This is not the case now and the company didn’t make clear the reasons for the current downtime. Its excuse that PNS is undergoing maintenance failed to convince, since it is highly unusual to go offline for maintenance without previous notice.

After Christmastime attack, the acknowledgement of the company also came bundled not only with an apology, but also a free extension of PlayStation Plus for subscribers, and a coupon for the PlayStation store.

Why Sony is not offering something similar now?
