Google Hypes Star Wars Further With Themed Cardboard VR

Only a couple of weeks remain until Star Wars: The Force Awakens hit the big screen. And with that said, die-hard fans of the Force will go to great lengths to get their fill of the latest installment of the franchise. As a matter of fact, search engine giant Google has also jumped in the bandwagon as it lets its users dress up their Google accounts and services depending on the side they choose. However, it looks like this isn't the only thing Mountain View has something up its sleeve as it partners with Verizon to bring a virtual reality Star Wars experience for their Cardboard VR Kit.

Disney has announced that one of its products made of its collaboration with Google brings a more immersive experience--those who have Google cardboard Virtual Reality Kits will be able to awaken the Force Within to commemorate Lucasfilm's highly anticipated Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

The new global program, dubbed as "Awaken the Force Within" has already started, and Star Wars fans that log on to google.com/starwars will be able to choose the dark side or the light side, and by doing so will transform their Google services such as calendar, email, Chrome, Gmail, Inbox, Maps and other services into the side they have chosen.

Furthermore, Disney will also release a new virtual reality experience that the company developed with search engine giant Google and Big Red. The new feature branded as the first-of-its-kind serialized Google Cardboard Virtual Reality experience that delivers a powerful story using the latest cutting edge technology of virtual reality. The new product will reportedly be tied directly into the opening of the upcoming film.

Users will be able to try the Google Cardboard Virtual Reality experience through the official Star Wars app that Android and iOS users can download from the app stores of their respective platforms.
