Chromebooks have earned both of its success and revenue in education sectors, and American tech giant HP wants more piece of the market share. As such, the company announces a new, rugged version of its affordable Chromebook 11 G4 designed for schools, which is described as durable, yet lightweight Chromebook.
Dubbed as the HP Chromebook 11 G4 EE, the company's latest offering boasts several new features designed for the most demanding users in mind. It features 20 mm thickness and 2.7 lbs weight, making it one of the thinnest rugged Chromebooks for education to date. It also passed the military standard MIL-STD testing. With its rugged construction designs such as co-molded rubber edges, it can survive the company's 70 cm drop test to keep it safe from the occasional bumps and falls. Furthermore, it comes with a spill-resistant keyboard that helps it keep safe from water-related accidents.
Moving forward, the HP Chromebook 11 G4 EE includes smart features such as a 180-degree hinge that allows it to be laid flat for easy collaboration within a group, and there's also an optional IPS panel that delivers wider viewing angles. It even features a built-in noise suppression technology to cater to the students that are working together on a collaborative project on Google Hangouts.
HP is also targeting educators with the Chromebook 11 G4 EE. It's designed to be deployed and managed easy, all thanks to the optional Chrome Management Console. Now, teachers and school administrators can easily manage their policies, apps, as well as updates across a multitude of Chromebooks directly from a web-based console. Furthermore, HP even offers its Chromebook in different color options, allowing users to quickly identify and distribute it across its planned user base.
'The popularity of Chromebooks in the classroom offers a simple, secure, and manageable solution to enable technology-based learning,' HP's Vice President of World Education Gus Schmedlen said.
The HP Chromebook 11 G4 EE will be available later this month in the United States starting with at US$199.
