WhatsApp Gears Up Toward Desktop Version; Beta For Win 10 Gets Updated

The titular messaging app WhatsApp has been the center of rumors and speculations lately. It is believed to introduce a desktop client that will work specifically for both Windows and Mac operating systems. Meanwhile, the app's Beta version has already been updated for Windows 10 mobile.

WABetaInfo released via Twitter a set of images that seem to appear as documentation of various translations and coding for WhatsApp. The interesting part is that the photos appear to be a confirmation of several clients being developed for the rumored WhatsApp desktop version.

While this is certainly a fascinating development to look forward to, there is still no guarantee of it being accurate. As of this writing, WhatsApp Inc. has yet to confirm the leaked information about the rumored desktop version.

Sure, a full WhatsApp desktop client would mean several potentials -- particularly for voice or video calls. However, beyond that, it would only remove the need for keeping a specific browser open, as reported by The Next Web. Users might even be forced to scan the WhatsApp Web QR code in order to connect their accounts to their preferred browsers.

One thing is for sure, though -- the WhatsApp desktop client would challenge existing services such as Facebook's Messenger, Slack and Skype.

In related news, MSPoweruser reports that the WhatsApp Beta for Windows 10 has been recently updated. The major changes came with the user interface, with the app bar matching the guidelines for Windows 10 UI.

The voice recording feature is now placed into the WhatsApp bar, while the central messaging design is akin to that of Microsoft's People app. The background, in particular, compliments the default accent color of the app as well as the white, all-capitalized contact names.

The new WhatsApp Beta for Windows 10 boasts new user interface overhauls, only those few aspects of the app's major core remain the same -- particularly the attachment clip.
