'Suicide Squad' Hits Box Office Record For August; Beats 'Deadpool' And 'Guardians Of The Galaxy'

Despite the bad reviews that "Suicide Squad" initially got during its premiere, it is now considered a box-office success. It even scored as the best hit for the month of August.

There have been news of bad reviews regarding "Suicide Squad" during its world premiere. However, this did not stop the fans of DC to watch the anti-hero flick anyway. In line with this, it resulted in "Suicide Squad" earning $20.5 million during Thursday night previews, as reported by Hollywood Reporter.

IMAX cinemas took twelve percent of the earnings during the previews, earning $2.4 million. This number ultimately resulted in "Suicide Squad" beating Marvel's "Guardians of the Galaxy," whiched earned only $11.2 million during its Thursday night previews. "Deadpool" used to hold the world record of highest earnings on Thursday night previews, earning $12.7 million. Now, "Suicide Squad" has already taken its place.

The performance of the movie has seemingly shown that no matter how bad review critical reviews are, and no matter how dismal the ratings of "Suicide Squad" get in review aggregator site Rotten Tomatoes, DC fans can, in fact, give Marvel's box-office hits a run for their money.

Los Angeles Times reported that according to midweek projections who have tracked the survey of its premiere week, "Suicide Squad" is already expected to earn a gross of $140 million by Sunday, in the United States and Canada alone. Worldwide, the movie has also gotten a high number of viewers and positive feedback.

After Warner Bros. suffered a reputational downgrade during the premiere of "Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice" this year, the anti-hero "Suicide Squad" film definitely brought the studio back on the top. There is still a lot in store for Warner Bros. that fans of DC are already waiting for.

Earning the top spot on August-best movies, "Suicide Squad" proves that despite the bad reviews, others still critic on their own. these viewers then believe there is more to the movie beyond the negative review.
