Apple Wallet on iOS 27 Gets Massive New Features Powered by Siri AI, Apple Intelligence

Apple’s iOS 27 may be full of AI features, but Wallet also gets a massive upgrade.

Apple Wallet Gets Smarter in iOS 26 with AI-Powered Package

Apple Wallet is receiving new features and upgrades via iOS 27, with Apple Intelligence and Siri AI also helping in reinforcing its experiences.

Announced at WWDC 2026, the update brings a wave of new features powered by Apple Intelligence and Siri AI, turning the Wallet app into a more capable everyday tool beyond just storing cards and passes.

With iOS 27, everyday interactions in Apple Wallet become more seamless and intelligent, with Apple Intelligence making it easier to split bills, as well as new features that help create passes, manage payments directly from the app, and more.

Split the Bill Among Friends

One of the most talked-about additions is the new bill-splitting feature powered by Apple Cash and Apple Intelligence. It works by scanning a receipt using Siri mode in the Camera app, then selecting Split Bill, which reads the receipt, breaks down the total, and lets users send payment requests to people directly through Apple Wallet using Apple Cash.

When users point their iPhone at a receipt using Siri mode, it can surface the relevant action to split a bill and identify the items on the receipt. As users select their items, their total payment is calculated, including their share of tax and tip, so they can pay back exactly what they owe.

The feature is currently limited to the US since it relies on Apple Cash.

Apple Pay Checkout Update

Apple Pay's online checkout experience is also getting a noticeable refresh in iOS 27.

The updated checkout lets users swipe to easily switch between cards and more conveniently surfaces key information at checkout, including rewards balances, debit account balances, and pay later options. That way, users will be informed before confirming or completing online payments.

iOS 27 also adds the ability to use Apple Pay to seamlessly add funds to an eligible debit cards directly in Apple Wallet or when checking out online.

Tap to Share

A new in-store experience called Tap to Share is also making its way to Wallet in iOS 27. Tap to Share allows customers to connect to a participating merchant's iPhone for a more personalized and faster in-store purchase experience, letting them securely share information without needing to hand their phone over to the merchant.

It is designed to make loyalty redemption and checkout faster while keeping the transaction on the user's own screen.

Digital Passes from Physical Cards

iPhone and Apple Watch users will gain the ability to create digital passes directly from physical cards they already carry. With the Siri mode in the Camera app, users can simply point their iPhone at any physical card with a barcode and save it to Apple Wallet.

Once added, passes are ready to present as a barcode or QR code, and users can customize the image, colors, style, and text for their Wallet passes.

Color coding helps distinguish pass types, with membership cards in blue, event passes in purple, and orange for other categories. Whether it is a punch card from a local coffee shop or a gym membership, if the physical card has a barcode, Wallet can hold it.

Digital Key Upgrade

Hotel stays are also getting a smarter Wallet experience. With iOS 27, Apple Wallet will offer an enhanced key experience for participating hotels and resorts.

Details about what specific hotel information will be displayed are expected to be shared closer to the public release this fall.
