'Skyrim' Special Edition: Everything We Know So Far

The remastered version of Skyrim called Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim Special Edition was announced by Bethesda's Pete Hines at E3 2016. Here are some of the details and important things to know that we have gathered so far. Pre-orders for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 are now available for the game's remastered version. It was announced by Microsoft's Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb today.

According to Gamespot, Hryb also mentioned on his post that players can now pre-download the game. However, you cannot actually load the whole game. The downloadable content only listed 106.15MB. It appears that the Special Edition is not playable until 12:01AM ET on October 28. Nonetheless, we have the exact date of release.

The Skyrim Remaster will be available on Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4 as expected, while it would not be released for the Wii U, Xbox 360 or PS3. Bethesda added that if players ownthe three expansion packs of Skyrim: Dawnguard, Hearthfire and Dragonborn on Steam, they will get a free upgrade to Skyrim Special Edition when it will be released later this year. The same thing will be applied as well to those who own the Legendary Edition of the game on Steam.

Currently, Steam is offering discounts to The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and all of its DLCs perceiving that you will acquire the remastered version of the game on PC. Based on Gotta Be Mobile, the Skyrim Special Edition will arrive with a fresh coat for all platforms. Bethesda noted that it will come with remastered effects and arts which include volumetric god rays, new snow shaders, dynamic depth of field, screen-space reflections and new water shaders. The trailer shows how vibrant the new environment is in the Special Edition. However, Bethesda confirms that the game will stay as is and no VR content.

Skyrim Special Edition will come at full price of $60. Fortunately, there are some deals offered to be able to have discounts. Amazon prime members can get the game for only $47.99 and will also be applicable to those who applied for trial Amazon prime account. Best buy will also offer 20% off for unlocked members of Gamers Club while Microsoft will also offer 10% off voucher gift code for those who pre-orders the game.
