The day is approaching when students will be back in school and Google has announced some new features for schools that use Google Classroom, to help both children and their parents.

Google Classroom Main Additions

According to Android Police, Google has even introduced a new tool for VR field trips. Overall, there are three big new updates to Google Classroom, along with a few smaller ones.

The first big addition in the educational tools suite is email summaries. Teachers who use the application have the possibility to generate automatic summaries of a student's work. The automatic summaries could be set on a daily or weekly basis and they can also be forwarded to parents.

Another addition in the Google Classroom app is an annotation capability. Teachers will have the possibility to draw on students' documents and homework. Students can also use the annotation capability in order to solve problems.

Maybe the most interesting of all the new features added in Google Classroom is a new VR app called Expeditions. The new app can be used for "virtual field trips" to exotic locations, historical landmarks and even into outer space. With this cool virtual reality feature, school sounds a lot more fun.

Google Classroom Smaller Updates

Google Classroom has also some minor additions to its educational tools. Google Forms allows now teachers to add images as multiple choice answers or to questions. Google for Education users can now use Inbox by Gmail.

In order to make Google Classroom more organized and even easier to use, teachers can now add topics to posts, according to Engadget. Students and teachers can also filter the stream for specific topics and preview videos, images, PDFs and documents without leaving the application.

With the latest Chrome update, all students and teachers can share their screen wirelessly at school via the Cast for Education feature. This is a free Chrome application that has built-in controls for teachers and can carry audio and video across complex school networks.
