Some DLC Items In 'Deus Ex: Mankind Divided' Are One Time Use Only

Many Deus Ex: Mankind Divided player were disappointed to learn that some DLC items could only be used once. Game developer Eidos-Montreal posted its reply via Reddit on August 24.

Basically, the DLC items are divided into Consumables and Durables, according to the Deus Ex official Reddit post.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Consumable Items

Consumable DLC items include player's Ammunitions, Credits, Crafting Parts and Praxis Kits. These items will be included in the inventory until player decided to use them during the game. Eidos said that "first party constraints" was the reason for this one time use items.

Deus Ex: Mankind Divided Durable Items

Fortunately, player's Augmentations, skins and weapon are included as durables. These items are always available and can be reused as many times as possible.

Deus Ex players not happy

A lot of players however were not happy with the developer's explanation. A number of players have accused the developer of being "greedy". One Reddit poster said that the one-time use items will create a microtransaction market. This means that players can sell some of their consumable items for other items in the game or cold cash.

The game's community manager denied the charge. The Eidos representative said that they will not sacrifice "the balance of the game" just to encourage microtransactions in the Deus Ex: Mankind Divided.

Some players are also confused over Eidos' basis in making the distinction between durables and consumables items. It seems the developer is guilty of deception, according to some Deus Ex gamers. Those who pre-ordered the game's DLC were not made aware of such information beforehand.

In Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, players assumed the role of Adam Jansen, an augmented human working for the government. It is a sequel to Deus Ex: Human Revolution. The game is available to Windows PC, Xbox One and PlayStation 4.
