‘Wayward Pines” Season 3 Cancelled Due To Low Ratings?

"Wayward Pines" season 2 ended with a cliffhanger. But with recent rumors of the show's cancellation, fans cannot help but wonder if Fox Television will ever give them closure for their beloved show.

M. Night Shaymalan, producer of "Wayward Pines" has been reported to have confirmed that the series is only due for three seasons. He mentioned, "I think we can say it's a three-season story, if we get the opportunity to tell the third and final season, we can finish the story."

The series started with 3.06 million viewers in its first season and dropped to 2.4 million on its second. But despite this ratings, Fox Television CEO Dana Waldson mentioned that it was the number scripted show of the Summer.

Even though the future of the show looks bleak, the fans still cannot stop theorizing on what will happen on the show's next season.

New characters are also believed to be coming in the show to add more to the chaos of the survival challenge. Fans are expecting for some of the characters to die and that the Abbies will generally be stronger and bigger.

Fans are saying that the humans will have to be smarter than the Abbies and come up with a strategic and realistic plan to survive. While others think that the human looking baby Abbie might mean better times are coming and that the Abbies are reverting back to being humans. Or maybe the baby is actually a new breed that will cause more destruction to the human race.

One interesting theory is that there will be a thousand year time jump. The third season will have to deal with the scenario that humans will have to face after the thousand years long cryogenic sleep.

If "Wayward Pines" Season 3 will ever happen, it will most likely be aired sometime in 2017. Fans will have to wait for now.
