Xbox 360 System Update – Latest Update Causing Problems For Datel Controllers

The most recent mandatory Xbox 360 system update, that was released today, has led to incompatibility issues for users with Datel-brand controllers.

The new system update, which users have been asked to accept upon signing into Xbox LIVE, was meant to offer a host of improvements and add voice search for Australia and New Zealand territories. However, those operating with Datel controllers (including the TurboFire 2, WildFire 2, and EVO controllers and the Super Sports 3X Steering Wheel) experienced an incompatibility issue.

“I wanted to let you know that the team has just released a system update for the Xbox 360 over Xbox LIVE. Starting today when you sign in to Xbox LIVE you’ll receive a prompt to accept this mandatory update,” said Larry Hryb of Xbox Live. “If you are signed into LIVE already, you may be signed out and asked to accept the update and you’ll be back online in a few moments.”

“What’s in it, you ask? Behind the scenes foundational improvement that will not be visually noticeable, but will help enable an easy update this Fall. There is an area that some of you may notice: We’ve added voice search for Australia and New Zealand,” he further added.

However, owing to this incompatibility issue faced by users with Datel-brand controllers, the official Xbox page quickly responded and assured its fans that serious steps are being taken to provide assistance to the users with those controllers.

According to the official Xbox support page, “Datel has alerted Microsoft that certain Datel wireless controllers (including the TurboFire 2, WildFire 2 and EVO controllers, as well as the Super Sports 3X Steering Wheel) are experiencing some incompatibility with the June 20, 2012 dashboard update.”

However, a software update for these controllers has been made available by Datel and can be downloaded from Datel's website.
