How many of us have wished for VLC media player on our Android devices? Well, here’s some good news. The long wait for a VLC player for Android may soon be over as VideoLAN has tweeted foretelling their imminent arrival on Android.

The message reads nothing more than “Android, here we come,” but for users who have been depending on VLC as their one-stop-shop for media playback on their PCs, this is fantastic news. Although Android has a host of video player apps, nothing can really be compared to VLC when it comes to sheer compatibility.

However, the official VLC for Android page on the VideoLAN site still reads that the project is in development, and this leaves us with the hope of more information to be available in the future. Nonetheless, the new tweet leaves little doubt that some kind of announcement regarding the port’s availability is about to drop.

According to a Pocketnow report, the final announcement and release will arrive in just a few days.
