MightyText Web App Launched; Lets Android Users Send SMS’s from their PC, iPad

Android users now have access to a new messaging tool, one receiving such rave reviews that it may even convince a few Apple devotees to jump ship to Android.

First launched as Texty in March, 2011, the messaging program was initially only available as an extension for Google's Chrome Web browser, and despite that limited base to work from, the program received solid early adoption, with users sending millions of SMS's daily through Chrome.

Now it's been officially re-launched as an app freely available to all, for use with any PC or mobile device. You can send SMS's using your existing Android phone number directly from your PC or even an iPad, and see who's calling you just as easily.

This should prove especially beneficial to people while at school or work, who can now text their friends and co-workers from their PC's without making it obvious by whipping out the mobile device. Likewise, the convenience factor of being able to do so from the PC while at home, and on the PC anyway, is immense. And if you're one of those people who tends to forget their phone in random places, you'll be spared the separation anxiety of not being able to text, until you and your little lost phone can be reunited.

The fact it makes use of your existing phone number spares you the hassle of having to get a new phone number (as you must with Google Voice), and spares the wallet the hassle of having to pay separately for any such SMS's sent, since it's all tied into your existing plan.

What sets MightyText apart from its iMessage counterpart for Apple devices is that it can work with and send SMS's, MMS's, and phone calls from just about any device, and to any device. iMessage on the other hand is restricted to being used solely by people with Apple devices.

MightyText is available now, and there's no reason for any Android user not to add it to their app arsenal; an arsenal that just gained some major bragging rights versus Apple.
