Sony's New Action Cameras May Be Better Than Go Pro Models

New action cameras from Sony have just been announced. The FDR-X3000R and HDR-AS300R are both waterproof cameras with optical image stabilization or B.O.SS (Balanced Optical SteadyShot) as what Sony likes to call it.

The BOSS feature allows users to capture smoother footage. The main difference between the two action cam models is that the FDR-X3000R records 4K UHD footage while the other model records in Full HD only, GSMArena reports.

Sony Action Cameras Specs

Both of the Sony cameras use Zeiss lens and have 8.2 MP BSI Exmor R CMOS sensors. The two devices also share the same look and are generally smaller than their manufacturer's previous action cameras.

In addition, the user interface has been changed and improved from the last versions of action cams. Furthermore, buyers can use these new action cameras with a separately sold live view remote.

Sony Action Cameras vs Go Pro Cams

With the Hero 4 Go Pro Camera still at $450, Sony's new action cameras definitely have a shot in the action cam market. The Go Pro cameras actually have great specs too, giving Sony action cams some good competition. However, since the Hero 5 from Go Pro has not been announced yet, those excited to buy an action cam might consider buying Sony's cameras instead.
